Phetchaburi to construct canals to prevent flooding

PHETCHABURI, 7 November 2016 (NNT) - Permanent Secretary for Interior Grisada Boonrach has traveled to Phetchaburi province to inspect the flood-affected areas.

Director of the Irrigation Office 14 Chalermkiat Chonwiwat on Sunday informed the permanent secretary of the flooding conditions in the province. He said heavy rains from 26-27 October increased water in areas above dams in Phetchaburi. As for assistance, the province will lay out a plan to help the affected people after it surveys the damage.

The permanent secretary told the local people he met that he had talked with the provincial agricultural and irrigation departments to construct and repair canals in the province. The canals would prevent flooding and benefit the construction of "Kaem Ling" water retention areas initiated by His Majesty the late King, said the official.

Mr. Kritsada said the canal construction would be completed in three years from now.
