I fly in from Hong Kong a month ago, having got my visa beforehand at the Thai embassy in HK. I thought this would entitle me to a 60 day stay, but just looked at my passport and realised immigration only gave me 30.

Surely this is a mistake? When I go to immigration for a 30 day extension, will they be able to rectify this?

Thanks

Did you put your visa's number on the arrival card when you entered the country?

You can get the stamping error corrected at immigration. I suggest you do it as soon as possible if the 30 day entry has ended. If you were to be stopped for a passport check they would see that your are on an overstay according to your stamp.

Looks like a mistake on entry at the airport, perhaps the immigration officer didn't notice where you'd written in your visa number on the Arrival Card.

Not a big problem, tho, unless you are now on Overstay.

What is your date in the passport for Permitted to Stay?

Cheers for replies... ends today, so I am going to get an extension, but before I do that will show them the visa and hopefully get the original 30 days made into 60 days, and I will still be able to get an extension in 30 days time (if that makes sense) ?

Not a big problem, but obviously it will cost me more money, and it is not really convenient for me to do a run 30 days from now (I thought I would just have to extend 30 days from now)

Once again. showing the importance of not leav[mg the immigration entrance booth until you verify your entry visa was stamped correctly.

If you had noticed it at the time it could have been corrected there on the spot before you left the area.

I realise, you were in a hurry, and we have all done something similar.

But the immigration officer was  also in a hurry and they are only human and can  make mistakes as all of us can do.

After all we are all human, and can make mistakes.
