coming in for 5 month trip from USA no tourist visa ok?

Featured Replies

Hi I'm planning on taking a trip to Thailand and somewhere else in SEA first week of December. I was thinking of just flying in without getting a visa, doing the 30day extension and then traveling to another country possibly Vietnam/Malysia for sometime and then picking up a single entry tourist visa at one of those stops for the rest of my stay.

My questions are is my plan doable? Also will I have any troubles boarding the plane from the USA with my return ticket being 5 months from entering?

It is doable but you might be denied boarding your flight without a ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival.

Do you have any idea if a ticket out of Thailand to any country would suffice or would it need to be a ticket back home to the USA?

Thanks for the quick reply much appreciated.

It could be a one way ticket to anywhere.

A good option is to buy a one way ticket to nearby country on a low cost carrier. Flights can be found for as little as 1000 baht.

Yeah I'm just gonna grab a cheap ticket to somewhere nearby. My flight is scheduled for Dec5th returning Early may so  I didnt want to have to send in my passport and try to get a tourist visa in that short time period by mail. I may have made it in time but not worth the anxiety.

Thanks so much Joe you've been a great help
