Business Visa Expires in December 2016 ,but the business is not doing well and im considering closing it . No longer have the 5 employees required for a renewal what are my options ?

Featured Replies

My business has been open a year almost ,it hasnt done well and im really on the verge of closing it but dont know where to start . I want to stay in Thailand and could possibly be eligible for a Retirement Visa how would that work with a Non Resident Business Visa still valid until 12/12/16 . Any good advice would be welcome on either of my two questions . Closing the business and applying for the New Visa on Retirement grounds while i have an active business and visa already ?

What do you have now? Do you have a multiple entry non-b visa from an embassy or consulate or an extension of stay from immigration?

If a non-b visa you could apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement during the last 30 days of any of the 90 entries from the visa.

If an extension you could change the reason for it from working to retirement.

Hello Ubon Joe i appreciate your learned reply.

At present i have a Non B One Year issued by Immigration. Which expires on 12/12 this year.

Am i able just to close the business by applying for a different Visa ? IE. Retirement Visa . Will I have to leave the country to make the new application for the extension or can i stay whilst its in process ?

Or would it be in my interest to keep the business open until after my Extension is issued and just apply for the same Visa I already have ?

What has to be done to officially close the business .I dont owe anything to anyone and I am up to date with Tax and Social Fund.

You have an extension of stay not a non-b visa.

You could keep you current until keep your extension and have  closed your business or until  it expires and then cancel it by submitting a letter to immigration stating you are no longer working effective a certain date. After it is canceled you can then apply for an extension based upon retirement on the same day (it will be done on the same day you apply).

Not sure what will be required to close the business. That is a question that should be asked on the business forum.

Here's how to close a Thai company.

When I did this a few years ago I was given quotes of between 15,000 to 50,000 for a non-trading company. If you are happy with your accountants they will probably be the cheapest, as they have all the paperwork.
