single entry visa where in asia can you still apply?

Featured Replies

hi just after any information about what the current situation is with applying for any tourist visa's for thailand in other asian countries? any information would be helpfull. i have a british passport.

  • The SETV is available from all the countries neighbouring Thailand as well as many others.
  • Vientiane or Savannakhet, Laos, and Penang, Malaysia are recommended. Other locations usually have additional criteria over that required by the three mentioned.

If willing to travel a little further, Hong Kong is as good as the ones @elvajero recommends. No visa is required on entry, and the application is hassle free. Airfare from Bangkok would usually be quite high, as would hotels, but recently much lower fares have been available, in particular on Hong Kong Express (a pretty decent airline). A few people who have been to Yangon suggest the consulate there is also friendly. I am planning to try it myself.

I'm from the UK aand have received SETV twice from Denpasar Bali over the last year. Processing takes 3 days (Mon am drop-off / Weds pm pick-up) and you do need to show in/out tickets, hotel bookings for a week and evidence of funds in a bank account. Never anyone there and the consular staff are great, Bali is a nice place to spend a few days but does get very busy over the Xmas / NY week.

30 day VOA is free in Indonesia for UK passport holders - which is nice.

Saigon give SETVs with proof of travel into and out of Thailand.

No visa needed for Brits staying less than 15 days.

Not correct.

There are many embassies and consulates that will only issue visas to citizens and legal residents of the country where they are located.

Thanks, Joe...I did not know that!  I lived in Ubon 2 years 1971-1973 during  the Vietnam War...
