Rescue workers rush Peerapat Laipraditporn, 3, into surgery Thursday night in Narathiwat province.

NARATHIWAT — Police on Friday blamed the shooting of a man and his 3-year-old son at their home in Narathiwat on separatist insurgents.

Prapan Laipraditporn, 32, and Peerapat Laipraditporn were resting on the front porch of their home when gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on them with M16 rifles, according to Patcharapon na Nakhon, chief of Takbai police. The two were later sent to hospital where they’re expected to recover.

Separatists?

Insurgents?

Just plain murdering terrorists

And we all know their beliefs, don't we?

“We believe the incident is related to unrest in the region,” Col. Patcharapon said.

I wish the police here would wait for evidence before they speak about a crime. A low, cowardly, despicable act for sure. But what mileage is there for insurgents in this? I suspect that there is more to the story than we are being told. There could be many reasons for this shooting other than this off-the-cuff postulation from the good colonel in order to see his name in print. 'Mafia' debt collecting perhaps... with protection from you-know-you?

LOL this is the fastest thaksin blaming I have ever seen.

What worries me is, will this innocent liitle kid get get adequate medical care ?

Absolutely horrific, no child should ever experience such pain

I have to wonder though... what made the parents are target? Yep there are plenty of crazies out there, but hey let's be honest, it's very unusual for someone to open fire on a random unknown house with M16s

Good to see the situation in the south is under control General , perhaps as a bit of advice stop chasing Students and bring the south under control, then again miracles have been known to happen, unfortunately,  not this year or in your case any year.........................................:coffee1:

Doesn't strike me as anything to do with Islamic separatists. This has all the hallmarks of a grudge shooting, perhaps gambling debts, or a dirty business deal, maybe a drug deal gone wrong?

Big men riding by on bikes shooting randomly...

The insurgents have a history of attacks like these. Nothing new.  Several years ago they shot toddler in the head at point blank range.

As for this: "'Mafia' debt collecting perhaps... with protection from you-know-you?".  Get a grip.

Soft targets are the norm down there.  How many teachers and other civilians have been whacked over the last 10 years?  Countless.

Perhaps now time to forget the kid gloves and negotiations.

Stephen, you don't follow the news much do you? For example: A woman owed money to the biggest loan shark in our province, she was late in her payments so 4 men in brown uniforms beat her to death, the loan shark is said to be the wife of the head sherang of the local BiB, the relatives, bowing to suggestions, decided not to press charges and quietly burned the victim! How dare the entire province think that such a thing could happen, obviously we're all drug takers!! :wai:
