November 15, 20169 yr Government to exempt rentals of state land for farming BANGKOK: -- The government is launching more schemes to help farmers with the latest plan exempting rentals for farmers who rent state land to do farming. Under the latest effort, the Treasury Department was tasked to preparing a proposal to allow exemption of rent collection on agricultural land owned by the state for the cabinet to approve. According to the director-general of the Treasury Department Mr Chakkrit Parapantakul, there are about a hundred thousand farmers leasing state lands in the country. These leases are for properties between 1 to 50 rai for the purpose of rice farming and planting other economic crops. He said the department is considering the exemption of rent collection for these properties for the cabinet to approve.
