OBEC holds high school cram course for students in Deep South

SATUN, 16 November 2016 (NNT) - The Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC) launched a series of high school subject cram courses for students in the Deep South to increase their chances of getting into universities.

Satun Governor Pattarapol Ratanapichetchai presided over the opening ceremony of the OBEC’s educational program for high school students in a special economic zone in the Deep South.

The Satun Governor told the students to adhere to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s advice on education in which he described knowledge as one's best form of self-defense. Thai students should not only be knowledgeable in class but should strive to become well-rounded.

Teachers from renowned schools in Bangkok have been invited to provide cram courses in five subjects including science, mathematics, Thai language, social studies, and English, all of which are included in the entrance exams.

The objective of this program is also to ensure that students receive a quality education as students living in most major cities do. The program, which lasts until November 19th, is being carried out at Satun Wittaya School.

The school principal, Manoj Maneewit, said it was a good opportunity for the students to have a chance to learn from the teachers who are knowledgeable in their subject areas and who can also provide them with techniques on how to score well on the entrance exams.
