25 Years Old, Not Working - What To Do?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I'm 25 years old and come from New Zealand.

I have been to Thailand twice before for holidays, and like the place alot. I just finished my Uni degrees and want to take some time off for 6-24 months (depending on how I like it) chilling out in Thailand.

I have some investments, savings, etc here in New Zealand and will be able to sustain myself easily in Thailand. I can transfer around 100,000+bt every month from my NZ bank accounts to a Thai bank account (if I can get one), or otherwise to my credit card.

Anyway, I am really confused by the recent changes, and was wondering if I could get some advice on my specific situation.

I would definitely prefer to get a "proper" visa at the start as opposed to making runs all the time and such, and I definitely don't want to get into any hot water with Thai authorities. My previous plan was to do visa runs every 30 days, but what should I do now?

Cheers!

Get a multi entry Tourist Visa from a consultate in N Z.

With 100,000 Baht a month you could probably buy Thailand. :o:D:D

Hi there, so this one - http://www.thaiembassynz.org.nz/Visa/tourist_visa.htm ?

Is it valid for very long, and at the end can I get the same VISA from a neighbouring country of Thailand, and not have to come all the way back to NZ?

Cheers!

You need to ask that question at your NZ Embassy/Consulate.

They may give you a multi entry but there again they may only give you

a single, i.e. 60 days plus 30 day extension inside Thailand.

It's easier to get multi entries (if at all) from countries further away, not

much chance in countries closer to Thailand. So get the visa where you are.

Don't even think about the 30 day border hop !

Naka.

You will most likely be able to go to Penang, Malaysia every 60-90 days to get a new tourist visa. Regardless, if I was 25 years old with your money, I'd chill out in Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Nepal, Vietnam, Bali, Bhutan, as well. Thailand is wonderful, I'll probably spend the rest of my life here. But don't discount other wonderful places in the region. I guarantee you won't regret the effort.

i would agree with this, if you are 25 and can afford to take 2 years out with 100k per month then you have a good opportunity to really see the world, dont waste it in Thailand, as good as thailand is 2 years not working is too long.

Thanks^^^

Yeah I have backpacked around SEA before (on the 2 previous trips to Thailand), and the 2 years I said was like a max.

What I would do is probably stick for 6 months or so in one spot in Thailand and then reassess how it is going. BTW, its 100K BAHT per month, not dollars or anything else! :o

With all the existing confusion and being 25 years old, I'd be quite happy to spend 30 days in Cambodia and 30 days in Thailand. Doing that you could stay as long as you want.
