A senior official working for a tuk-tuk and moto-taxi drivers’ association was arrested in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district over his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and receiving stolen goods, according to district military police yesterday. District military police commander Lieutenant Colonel Chim Rithy said the suspect was Heng Taingleng, 37, the deputy chief of the office in charge of common security for the Cambodia Confederation Development Association.

Lt. Col. Rithy added that Mr. Taingleng was arrested at his home in Por Senchey district’s Chom Chao commune on Tuesday.   “He was a target of drug dealers and buyer of stolen motorbikes from thieves in Phnom Penh. He was arrested after military police raided his house in Prey Tea village on Tuesday,” he said.

He added that after his arrest, military police officers seized a small package of crystal methamphetamine, a long sword, material for using drugs, two mobile phones and two stolen motorbikes from his home. A district military police officer who asked not to be named told Khmer Times yesterday that Mr. Taingleng had been preliminarily charged with “drug trafficking and receiving stolen goods.”
