BANGKOK:-- The commissioner of police Jakthip Chaijinda has appealed for help from the Malaysian authorities in the case of 21 Thai women arrested in that country.

The case is suspected to be one of human trafficking. Two Thai men who arranged for the women to work in Malaysia are now thought to be in custody there.

The women were originally meant to be going to Malaysia to sell rice crackers and left vis Sadao in Songkhla.

The Malaysian security services arrested them all and they are being held in custody also.

It was not clear what the women were doing in Malaysia. Commissioner Jakthip has requested that Thai security personnel contact their Malaysian counterparts to get to the bottom of the matter.
