The Talad Neon – Downtown Night Market, owned and managed by The Platinum Group, is scheduled to open on December 1 in Bangkok’s Pratunam area.

BANGKOK: -- PLATINUM FASHION Mall is strengthening its shops to ship fashion products to the Southeast Asian market with the aim of becoming the wholesale fashion hub of the region in a few years.

“We want to help SMEs expand overseas, and Southeast Asia is the target. Meanwhile, Platinum Fashion Mall hopes the centre will become the best wholesale fashion hub of Asean by 2017,” Chanchai Phansopha, president of The Platinum Group, said yesterday.

Under its project called “Empowering SMEs”, small and medium-sized enterprises will learn to create fashion goods that can meet the demands of other countries.

Already 20 shops have joined the pilot project and more are on the waiting list.

Of all the laughable (at best) hub stories in the past, this one does actually sound like a good idea. Platinum is already some kind of hub - you see lots of people going in with empty suitcases and packing them full with merchandise. I frequently visit KUL, and I see many small shops and boutiques selling very affordable clothing items that look like what I have seen in Thailand. Don't know about markets in the Indochinese region but I won't be surprised if it's similar in those markets. Anyway, it's a good move to consolidate and streamline operations and position itself properly. Just a note of caution - avoid falling for the temptation to jack up prices otherwise this will turn into nothing more than just another hub of scamming retailers.

This is positive news at last. Finally Thailand has the opportunity to be a HUB of something, in this case, wholesale fashion.

Well done.:clap2:

That should be the hub of PIRATED fashion  :whistling:

You clearly never have been to Platinum fashion mall, but consider post count more important

This mall is right across  from the biggest Whole sale area in Thailand.

It is only Platinum Mall , cutting the grass of Pratunam( spelling ) whole sale area.

Most of the shops in Platinum, walk across the street and buy from Pratunam anyway.

But it is always Good , for Thailand to get another HUB.  Hub number 1,458,220 and counting.

cheers.

I'm not that far up myself to need to visit over priced fashion malls

And no doubt you are 100% sure no one would dare sell fake labels there

Again shows that you don't know what you're talking about, because the last thing that can be said about Platinum fashion mall is that it's overpriced.

Having visited Platinum mall several times, I never saw pirated goods in there but rather nice priced original clothes, which doesn't mean there may not be some pirated goods in one of the dark corners of the mall.

Are you 100% without sins?

Have to agree with Anthony5, the last time I was in Platinum fashion mall, it seemed to be more in competition with the older Pratunam wholesale market across the street. Similar prices, similarly-sized "shops", but in a brighter, cleaner environment.

Hub of cheap imported clothes? Does Thailand even have garment exporting business anymore, I thought they've gone to Vietnam eons ago.

Middleman business. Imports from Cambodia and Laos...
