Three agencies combine to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector

BANGKOK, 30th November 2016 (NNT) – Thailand has set a goal to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by the year 2030 with three state agencies to combine their efforts with a focus on the industrial sector.

The Department of Industrial Works (DIW), the Office of the Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) have joined together to aid the industrial sector to contribute to the nation’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2030, signing a Memorandum of Understanding entitled “Integration on Reporting Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Industrial Sector 2016-2020”.

The reports produced under the agreement are to inform other state offices as they work to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial segment.

DIW Director-General Mongkol Phruekwattana remarked that the cooperation would lead to clearer information for use in the industrial realm and to better state policies for dealing with greenhouse gas emissions.
