Prayut tells public to pressure suspect to avoid possible harm caused by a raid

 

BANGKOK: -- PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha called on Phra Dhammachayo, the fugitive abbot of Wat Dhammakaya in Pathum Thani, to surrender and fight his case in court. The abbot faces charges of money laundering and receiving funds embezzled from the Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative (KCUC).

In response to a question about why the authorities could not just arrest the abbot, Prayut said the officers had to consider if such an operation would give rise to confrontation or injuries.

Instead, he said, the public should give the officers time to formulate a plan and decide on the right timing, instead of pressuring them.

Lol.  Don't pressure the police. 

 

So it's the public who are at fault for not pressing the con to hand himself in. I'm glad we got that cleared up, as naively I thought it was the police's job to apprehend villains.

 

Plod needs to formulate a plan? Here's an idea for you - pass it over to the army.

I doubt even the army want to make this arrest either 

 

A peaceful end to this situation is all we can hope for. The last thing we want in some Thai Waco style massacre. Who knows what this religious cult is capable of. A worrying time!

Do the BIB actually have a Plan B?

It is probably better to say nothing rather than make pleas to the media.   He makes his regime sound fragile.   Would he not be better off to just out wait the abbot ?   All enforcement use to say, time is on our side.  Sound like the good general does not have the patiences for law enforcement.

Prayut should stick to what he has control over, things like leading exercise sessions. Things like enforcing law and order seem to be beyond him

Havent they had months already?  If they are not up to the job, give it to someone else!

The ultimatum has elapsed, midnight has come and gone, the abbot has shown the country how ineffective the government is by simply doing nothing at all.

Now the PM is pleading with the suspected criminal, while admonishing the public to be patient with the blustering and embarrassed police force.

Shouldn't this general rather plead with the public and admonish the criminal?

Time to send in the army, they have shot at people hiding in wats before after all.

think it is repeat plan A but hope for a different outcome. telling a criminal to surrender to face their crimes is weak at best. someone needs to tell the cops the best time to catch a criminal is as soon as possible. not wait for the right time.

If I read right and remember after their concern over the statute of limitations for prosecution running out before trial and think I saw it will in another seven years. If that's the truth it really seems he's the only one being sensible when he's not even accused of a violent crime and his flight risk is mostly in people's minds, the same as his.

'A peaceful end to this situation' is easy....simply do nothing and forget about it (and hope everyone else, including the TVF warriors, forget it too)

Yes true they have aspirations of the after life to. Hate to throw a monkey wrench into that. 

When the PM interjects its getting serious. I guess he has checked his Facebook page and noticed a drop in likes on this topic. Its getting to be an embarrassment and time to end the shenanigans.

Ever though that the powers that be should be / are being very careful not to have any violent confrontation with the brain-washed mob in this silly but serious situation. If that happens there are sure to be severe casualties, maybe even death. And don't forget it's well reported that this temple has a large arsenal of rifles, ammunition, etc. 

 

IMHO there can be little doubt the smart mouthed smug spokesperson and others will be, behind the scenes winding up the 'mob'.

 

Perhaps the powers that be should block all entrances and only allow exit and if needed force them to exit by starving them out. Just a wild thought.
