Transport Co. to construct new bus terminal beneath Kamphaeng Phet 2 highway

BANGKOK, 5 December 2016 (NNT) - The Transport Co. is planning to construct a new bus terminal beneath Kamphaeng Phet 2 highway to service the public, starting May 1 next year.

Acting Chairman of the Transport Co. Pol Gen Amn Unardngam said the company had been notified by the National Council for Peace and Order that Mo Chit Terminal lacked adequate capacity to fully service the new route plans. The Transport Co. has therefore decided to construct a new terminal beneath Kamphaeng Phet 2 located opposite to Mo Chit Terminal. The new terminal will feature ticketing booths, passenger terminals, shops, restrooms and parking lots.

The project requires a budget of 145 million baht and will accommodate 154 vans, 110 cars, 200 motorcycles, and up to 1,500-2,000 passengers. The subsequent phases of the project will accommodate reserve vans and large buses. The project is expected to complete by May 1, 2017.

"the company had been notified by the National Council for Peace and Order that Mo Chit Terminal lacked adequate capacity..."

Is he actually admitting that they couldn't figure this out for themselves? Surely a police general would know all there is about running a transport company (NOT!) One of the biggest causes of inefficiency in public sector businesses in this country is  this "jobs for the boys" mentality when it comes to filling senior positions.

"The new terminal will feature ticketing booths, passenger terminals, shops, restrooms and parking lots."

Wow! Really?

And there was me thinking it would "feature" a bowling alley, fish market, library, vehicle assembly line and television studios.

Obviously I would never make it as a planner of bus terminals.

nope but if u threw in cinemas, MK restaurant, S&P, BIG C KFC and Macdonalds, you would definitely have my vote

And it will all be completed in less than 6 months? Don't think so.

What is this BS again ?

Why so many buses cannot just stop at the official bus terminals ?

They can and do, but apparently Mor Chit is over capacity so a new terminal is called for. Better there than Rangsit for sure.

It has taken them 15 years ,about, to get a descent  transport  service  to Morchit 2 ,if they built it else  where it will take them  years to get a good transport link to  that  new bus  station ,building it  opposite  the old Morchit ,the soon to be opened  sky train  link will be able  to service  the new Morchit .

Do you think that it was planed  like that ,or just  an   accident .

The skytrainlink to Bang sue you mean? Have you ever tried to use it? You'll have to walk about 2 km underground, i wished i could rent a bicycle there.

That gave me the brilliant idea of underground cyclingtunnels with airconditioning. That's what BKK needs and will be a huge improvement. It won't cost much electricity for the aircons since the cold air will stay underground by itself.
