I took advantage of the "x days before/x days after" rule concerning 90 day reporting, and reported earlier. My question is - does my next 90 day report fall on the earlier date, or the actual date?

Thanks - I'm going to try this one on line so will work according to what you suggest (i.e. A couple of days prior to the last date) so if that gives problems I can fall back on a physical visit.

For online reporting you have a widow of 15 to 7 days before the report date to do an application.

The new report date will be 90 days from the date your local office processes the application.

IF you did you last 90 day report early, when you reported didn't they give you a slip with the new report date?

Yes; "when all else fails, read the instructions"....silly me for not having the energy to open the safe and get it out. So: the date given (21st December) means I can still do the 15 days before/7 afterwards, doesn't it? Thanks.

It is up to 15 days before or 7 days after for reporting in person.

For online reporting it is 15 to 7 days before the report date.

Joe, it now transpires we fly out for two months on the same day the 90 day reporting is due (21st Dec) and return in March, well within the initial one year validity of our retirement visa. Should we still do the reporting?

If you leave on or before the 90th day a report is not due.

If you have a extension of stay obtained at immigration be sure you get a re-entry permit.

...even though the OP will be returning well within the initial 1 year validity of his visa ?

Only if he had a OA visa from an embassy or consulate would he not need are-entry permit. An extension of stay requires a re-entry permit or you loose it.
