Three month multiple re-entry visa

Recommended Posts

My German friend has a 3 month multiple entry visa obtained in Munich which expires in January. Normally he has a 6 month multiple entry but these days only the embassy in Berlin can issue that and not the consulate in Munich so as he was in  a hurry he settled for the 3 months. Can he obtain another 3 month extension to this if he travels to Vientiane and applies at the embassy there? If so how long does that take? With the 6 month visa he returned to Munich in April so there is no question of extending it any further.

There is no 3 month multiple entry tourist visa. They are only issued as a single entry that is valid for 3 months to do that one entry and only allows a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

He could apply for another single entry tourist visa in Vientiane.

Just to clarify having now seen the visa that was issued by the Thai consulate in Munich. It states it is a NON IMM Visa and gives a date by which it must be used but no duration. The immigration officer at Suvarnabhumi has stamped the date admitted as 27 October until the 24th January. Does this mean a visit to an immigration office at 60 days or can he just leave for Vientiane on or before the 24th January and apply for another 3 month visa at the Thai embassy in Vientiane?

A non immigrant visa allows a 90 day entry since it is not a tourist visa.

He can get single entry tourist visa when his 90 entry ends.

His intention is to stay another 3 months as he usually obtains a 6 month visa but this time due to time constraints and a change in Munich they were no longer able to issue the 6 month visa and for that he would have had to apply to the embassy in Berlin. So what I need to know is can he get another 3 months visa to take him through to April and would this mean leaving the country and obtaining it at the Thai embassy in Vientiane for example?

What qualification did he use to get the Non-Imm Visa?  Retired?  Married to a Thai?  There are options at either an immigration-office in Thailand, or a neighboring nation's Thai consulate.  The qualification-requirements depend on how he qualifies for this type of visa.

He could also do as others have suggested (without needing to show Non-Imm related qualifications) and get a 60-day Tourist Visa nearby, then extend that for 30-days more in-country.

He is retired late seventies and in Germany always has to produce a bank statement. Normally he applies and gets a 6 month visa but this time the Thai consulate in Munich advised him that this was only available from the embassy in Berlin so he settled for the three months and now wishes to have another three months before returning to Munich in April.

From what I understand it was one that required he leave Thailand before the end of three months and on his return got another 3 months automatically. The 6 month was obtainable at the consulate in Munich but must now be obtained from the embassy in Berlin. To obtain the 6 month visa he had to produce the usual bank statements in Munich to show he could support his stay of 6 months. Due to time constraints he settled for the 3 month NON IMM hoping that he could then extend it by another 3 months when he was here in Thailand with a visit to Vientiane.  I gather that his best option is to obtain a two month tourist visa in Vientiane when his present 3 month NON IMM expires in January and then apply to the immigration office in Bangkok for the extra 30 days which will take him into April which is when he normally returns to Germany.
