End Hun Sen Family Slander, Says CNRP

Opposition CNRP leaders have called for an end to the spreading of false rumors about Prime Minister Hun Sen’s wife and eldest son Hun Manet. Stories have been circulating in public and on social media that Mr. Hun Sen’s wife Bun Rany and Mr. Manet were the wife and son of a Vietnamese leader.
 

A statement signed jointly yesterday by CNRP acting president Kem Sokha and exiled opposition president Sam Rainsy said the allegation was not true.   Both condemned the people who created the story and spread it to harm the reputation of the prime minister and his family, with the allegation still being published on some social media.
 

Some Facebook users posted that Ms. Rany and Mr. Manet are Nobel Peace Prize winner Le Duc Tho’s wife and son.   The opposition leaders said: “The CNRP strongly condemns any person who makes up information intending to slander Samdech Prime Minister’s family reputation.”
