Ubonjoe. I am wondering as I need to go to either manilla or kuala lumpar for something work related.. would it be favourable to go to which city for a non o? Meeting the financial requiremnets is no issue. Just dont wanna go somewhere that may have a rep as being difficult?

Thanks

Kuala Lumpur will not do a multiple entry non-o visa. No reports of Manila doing one that I can recall.

Really if thats the case then why wouldn't someone want to keep getting new visa and forego the 30 day consideration thing and extra requirements that the extension has?

Folks get the annual extensions because they can stay for a full year without having to leave the country.  On the Non-O Multiple Entry Visa, you have to leave the country every 90-days, or at most 150 days if you get an extension to the 90-day permission of stay entry.   For your work schedule, it is the perfect fit.

Note that you could also get the Non-O ME visa in Penang, which might be an easier location to visit - but they ask you to show proof of funds (unlike Savanakhet).  Showing 400K Baht in a bank somewhere (does not have to be in Thailand) is the easiest route, though you could get proof of 40K/mo income certified from your embassy, as well.

Yeh just married... how are they at penang? No difficulties there or rude people? I have had tourist visas through there but always through an agent and never in person.

Penang could be a good option.

It seems all the "latest reports" of getting visas section in this forum is very outdated.

Should have no problems at penang. Use Jim's Place as an agent if you do not want to go to thai consulate yourself. Go no later than 08:30 with all documents or just drop off the day before.

Dont overthink it.

Sorry for posting in this box. Its stuck in my reply and won't delete..... I went online and tried to print out a bkk bank statement but it seems to be unavailable. Would Penang  accept a screen shot or something with last 2 months. I am not in thailand to go to a bank or get one from an atm? If this is a possible issue then i will have to go to savannakhet but i need to go to malaysia as well to do something else. So hoping I can do it at penang. Sikishrory

I assume by re-reading the OP that you are attempting to obtain the ME non-o visa for marriage to thai.  Assuming you have all the other documents, I would reattempt getting an online printout of bank statement.  It should show bank name, your name, matching the visa applicant name and the current balance around 400k baht.

My understanding is normally they want to see the photocopy/scanned printout from the actual bankbook.  But the internet printout from a thai bank should  be ok.  Use Jim's place for an extra 70RM; get to his office no later than 08:30 for same-day embassy drop or wait until the afternoon after 15:00 so you can get into the next day's drop.  You can also go yourself....but I think Jim would be a more efficient use of your resources

And it seems that they are frowning on non-Thai bank statements for non immigrant if you are not married (although I was still able to get mine last month successfully).  They've tightened up a bit, but nothing to panic about.

Enjoy Penang; try not to overeat.
