PATTAYA:-- A 25 year old female Chinese tourist was left with bloody nose after she was allegedly hit by a drunk Thai guide from another tour group on Pattaya's Bali Hai pier.

Police were called on Thursday and found Miss Cao Na on the ground after she had been punched in the face. She was given first aid at the scene by medics before being taken to hospital.

They arrested a man called Prem Suphapakorn, 35, who was a guide of another tour group. He was drunk and incoherent but denied the attack saying that she hit him first.

The incident was reported by the victim's tour leader Charnthirat Charoenwiwat, 36, who said he had no idea why the victim had been attacked.

But he said that it was disgraceful that a tourist should be assaulted in this way and it was a very bad thing for the image of tourism in Thailand.

Puny or not, the Thai tour guide shouldn't of punched the woman in the face.

Reasonably certain that the trained, certified, protected job would involve customer rudeness handling 1.01 don't punch women in the face?

Maybe. But likely to be taken more seriously because it was reported by a Thai who witnessed the assault.

Maybe even 1k ThB and made to publicly apologize for insulting the reputation of tourism!

maybe he was so drunk he thought it was his wife.

Neither are many Thais to other Thais especially when they consider themselves superior.

Thai man being manly, hitting a defenceless woman

Why have they disguised his face ?

Let the world see this coward in all his gory glory

The tourist was very lucky that there were not more of them wanting to punch and kick!

Nope, in that case a 9mm would figure in the story, not a punch.

I think that's the tourist! :wai:

Real men do not hit women!

The other group's tour guide was drunk and incoherent? And said she hit him first hahaha How funny. The lack of education here about respecting others is outshined for the insatiable need to 'Save Face'. Now he looks like a real fool hitting a women.

Absolutely correct!

Maybe she wasn't polite and certainly Thai men won't accept losing face to anyone especially a woman.  So just punch them, Thainess at it's very best.

That 'land of smiles' title is becoming rather jaded!

That's a new government rule: no photos of accused people.

As and when they feel like.

I have seen first hand how some of these guides treat the tour group,it is a #$%ing disgrace...

He was blind seeing red drunk...tired of the illegal guides. Then attacked one....
