I live in Bangkok and need to do a quick in and out of a neighboring country to get 30 days.  I'd rather drive myself than go in a van at 5am. Is Kanchanaburi still a no go for 30 days? The next point in Bang laem in Cambodia. Is it easy to do the trip without an agent? ie Easy Cam visa on arrival?

Cheers in advance.

Ban Laem is one of the better crossings to try to get a Visa Exempt, but there is no exact formula  we can use to determine if you would receive one.  Some factors include many Visa Exempts you have received previously, when, and how much time you have spent in Thailand recently.

The Cambodian side was happy with a 100-Baht tip for VOA, with the rest paid in USD.  If you pay in Thai Baht, expect a terrible exchange rate costing far more.  I am not sure what fee they charge, in addition, for a same-day exit (I traveled onward to Phnom Penh).

The Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing in Kanchanaburi does not a allow a crossing unless you have a valid Thai visa for re-entry. No crossing for visa exempt entry is allowed.
