Spousal visa and other options

Featured Replies

My partner has accepted a job in Bangkok and will start work at the end of January. She will get a working visa through her work.

We are both British citizens and in our 30s.

Is the best option for me to get the marriage/spousal visa for me to be able to move out with her? Would I be allowed to work on such a visa?

A lot of website seem to imply that the spousal visa is for people married to Thai nationals, rather than a foreign national with a work visa. Is this the case?

Thanks in advance!

  • If you are legally married you will be able to get a Non-Immigrant Visa.
  • Presumably your wife will be entering with a Single Entry Non-Immigrant Visa and applying for a 1 year extension of stay based on her work. Once she has an extension of stay you can get an extension of stay as her spouse.
  • No visa gives permission to work, but if you get a job (formerly employed) you should be able to get an extension of stay based on your job as long as you entered the country with a Non-Immigrant Visa.

Is that a typo?

Yes, probably the predictive-text gremlin. Formally, not formerly.

Yes. It should say formally.
