This is my first time owning an apple iphone.

Can you tell me about the 'find my iphone' features. How does it work?

Should I be setting this up now in case I lose my phone or is it something I do after the fact?

Please save me from having to read the fineprint by explaining in laments terms how this functionality works

thanks

sorry, you seem beyond help.

and i have only had the pleasure of visiting pattaya twice for a total of about 4 days, so it would seem you are about as intuitive as you are tech savvy.

This is not the democratic republic of congo. There are rules on this forum. You can't just go around insulting someone.

Your so incompetent that you can't read the context of the thread and make a useful reply. You must be a nightmare to live with. Who could put up with you old boy.

Open the app and follow the login instructions. That's basically it, then you can close the app. If you have another Apple device with this app then when you open it you will see where all your Apple devices are. Alternatively, you can login to iCloud.com via any web browser, on any device. You then log in with your ID and you will be able to see where your devices are, provided they are switched on.

It is advisable to use this feature. I found it handy once when I misplaced my iPad at work.

you need an apple ID, as you do to install apps from the app store.

Find my iphone locks your phone to that apple ID (dont forget your password!)

FMI uses the built in GPS and needs a data connection (wifi or cellular)

If you lose or misplace your iphone you can open the app on another idevice (must also be signed in with your apple ID) or any browser you can see where your iphone is on a map, you can change/create a passcode, you can play a sound and present a message on the screen, you can set it to lost mode (phone will then require your apple ID log on to function) you can wipe the phone memory - all this requires a data connection.  If the phone has no connection then these actions will happen the next time it can connect to the internet.

If somebody has your phone, and you have set the passcode lock/fingerprint scan then your phone is useless to them.

they can not update/restore or use your phone.  There is no hack (yet) so its good and makes your stolen phone a lot less desirable, though they could sell it for spare parts, so don't count on getting it back...

Its a good feature, and on by default once you sign into to icloud.  The app on the phone is only to find another device.

You are born from the lower class. It is evident you are just a troll...

Read above responses from normal people. Its just the sort of info that is useful for me.
