BANGKOK: -- A lucky driver was saved certain death as he was hauled from his burning cab after two 18 wheelers collided in Bang Plee yesterday.

One of the trucks was turning into the Nawa Siam Steel factory and was blocking two lanes as it did, reports Sanook.

Unable to stop another truck ploughed into the back of it and burst into flames. The driver was trapped in the cab but fire crews managed to smash the windows and cut him out after dousing the truck in foam.

The driver was recovering in hospital.

The accident happened on the King Kaew Road heading towards Bang Na - Trat Road in Samut Prakarn.

Police said the road has now been cleared of debris.

The entrance into the factory is not wide and deep enough if an 18-wheeler, commonly used to transport steel bars, has to occupy two lanes to enter or exit.

Lucky guy. The fire fighters must have got there PDQ.
