December 16, 20169 yr Thai and Turkish SMEs jointly set up business network BANGKOK, 16 December 2016 (NNT) - The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) inked an agreement with its Turkish counterpart to open doors for Thai SMEs in Central Europe and North Africa. OSMEP Director Salinee Wangtan and President of Turkey’s Small and Medium Sized Industry Development Organization (KOSGEB) Recep Bicer signed the agreement to provide both Thai and Turkish SME operators a greater access to each other’s markets. Turkey will be able to use Thailand as a gateway to penetrate markets in ASEAN while Thailand can gain its potential clients in North Africa via Turkey. This is the second agreement KOSGEB has offered Thailand. Turkish entrepreneurs in 14 industries tagged along with Bicer to meet their Thai counterparts. Their business partnerships are expected to be worth 500 million baht. The Federation of the Thai Industries Vice President Kriengkrai Thiennukul said the agreement will benefit Thai SMEs in terms of technology which they can learn from Turkey. He added that Turkey is looking to form joint cooperation with Thailand in the auto-industry as well. -- nnt 2016-12-16
December 17, 20169 yr Any Port In A Storm perhaps as LoS will need to take new best friends wherever they can find them. Maybe the junta can send YL to Turkey, a Moslem country despite their constitution, to spread Buddhism as she said she'd be doing when she went to Pakistan. I always wondered if anyone ever told her it wasn't such a good idea ?

As I recall it wasn't all that long ago that the PM in a desperate move went around African and middle european countries glad handing tinpot dictators and trying to drum up export business. Turkey and Thailand have much in common politically and are sure to compliment each other that way. However I notice the major exports for both countries are similar. Maybe they will end up being competitors rather beneficiaries of this so called networking deal.
