BANGKOK, 16 December 2016 (NNT) – The Treasury Department is scheduled to open an exhibition of coins produced in commemoration of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej next week.

According to Treasury Department Director-General Chakkrit Parapuntakul, the coin exhibition will take place from December 22-25 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event will be divided into three zones under different themes.

The first zone will tell stories about various incidents related to King Bhumibol Adulyadej through important coins from the past. In two other zones, visitors will be able to learn about the late monarch’s royal activities and initiatives throughout the 70 years of his reign and observe both circulated and uncirculated coins produced for His Majesty, from the very first to the very last collections.

Among the commemorative items to be put on display are coins celebrating the King’s birthday anniversaries and coronation anniversaries, coins marking His Majesty’s acceptance of international recognition and awards, coins commemorating his many talents and skills and coins made under Thailand’s cooperation with foreign mints.

Besides viewing the exhibition, visitors will also have an opportunity to shop for rare and limited edition coins that cannot be found on the market.
