Police are still baffled over the identity of a Caucasian man whose body was found tied to a concrete pole used for buoy anchoring off Samae Beach in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district on Friday.

The discovery was made by a jet-ski driver who raised the alarm. The dead man’s throat had been slit.

Muang Pattaya Police Station superintendent Pol Colonel Apichai Krobphetch called an urgent meeting yesterday morning to discuss the case, which police now expect will become a murder investigation, according to deputy inspector Pol Captain Wattana Pradit. They have so far been unable to establish the man’s name or nationality.

The 33-year-old Cambodian jet-ski driver who found the body told police he was circling around the area to warn tourist clients against riding in the rocky area of the beach. When he did a U-turn towards the beach, he spotted the body floating in the water.

Now that would put a dampner on your day.....not to mention lost revenue for jet-ski operators in the aftermath:shock1:

yes very confusing story ,headline says body tied to concrete pole, next the cambodian spotted the body floating in the water?did it come loose from the pole?

What is so hard to understand ?

The body been tied up with a rope or got stuck in a fishing net,  what itself did got tied up or got stuck around the concrete pole, and stays floating.

Same if you dock a boat  with a rope on a pole. The boat stays floating.

The body was floating, tied by 2 metres of rope to the concrete column, Sherlock. Nearby was a boat, floating yet tied to a jetty !

Just a farang fisherman who got caught in his net and drowned, his body then drifter in the net and became tangled on a pole. Some sea debris passed too close and caused the wound in his neck.

All just an accident.  Thailand is safe people ...nothing to see here

Divers sent to the area where the body was discovered on Saturday found a snorkel, a cutter, a swimming cap and goggles on the seabed.

“The central police forensic science division is checking fingerprints on the evidence from the sea,” Pattaya police chief Apichai Krobpetch was quoted in the Post as saying. “They could be linked to the victim.”

Not the perpetrator?
