Italianhawksfan
I have tried going to many exchange kiosks in Pattaya as well as Bangkok Bank but none of them will exchange Cambodian money or Laos money for Thai baht. Does anyone know where I can go in Pattaya to do this? Why won't any of them exchange money from their neighboring countries? I had the same problem in Phuket earlier this year. They only want to take western money it seems...Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

Saastrajaa
Cambodian and Lao money (and, I would expect, Burmese) is worthless outside of those respective countries, sorry. You need to change it while you're still within their borders. Only "larger" Southeast Asian currencies like Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Malay can be exchanged in Thailand. blackcab
It's got nothing to do with western money. They will only exchange currency that is actually worth something. Laos and Cambodian currency is worth nothing outside of Laos and Cambodia.
fiddlehead
What money? How much? When I was in Cambodia, things were done in dollars. Change (smaller than a $1 bill) were done in Cambodian Riel So, how much money are you trying to exchange? I have a few US quarters with me, although I'm here in Phuket, not Pattaya. BruceMangosteen
I have the same problem with Philippine Pesos. Sometimes there will be an exchange rate posted but it's a ridiculous spread. The Philippine Peso is much more common in every day use in said country as well as in fine restaurants and casino's. Anyone know of a source for selling/buying Philippine Peso's at reasonable exchange rates? OO and God Bless You.

It is easy to fix, just find somebody that is going to Laos. He will be happy to get some kip and not have to waste time changing money on the first day.
