PATTAYA: -- Two Korean men went to police in Pattaya on Saturday to say that they were the victims of extortion of men claiming to be police.

They said that the ten strong group went to their seventh floor room at Chokchai Condominium in Soi Sanam Golf and extorted 300,000 baht.

But the mystery took a turn yesterday when the victims disappeared into thin air. Nong Preu police had gone back to see Daniel Park, 35, and Sanghyeok Lim, 31, to get details of the bank transfer and their passports but they had left the apartment which was locked up.

They claimed that ten men with guns had been to room 718 in building A3 on Saturday evening.

On Sunday police checked CCTV in several spots at the condominium and saw a large group of men leaving the lift in two lots at 9.41pm and 9.47 pm.

Most of the men looked like Koreans, said police.

Police added Sunday that due to certain suspicious number plates that were caught by CCTV they think that the gang was comprised of both Koreans and Thais.

The hunt is now on for the extortionists as well as the victims.

Removed a troll post.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

People don't understand that there are cameras everywhere now. You cannot lie or do stupid things.

Cameras and mobile phones everywhere.

I think I'd be gone too. Can't blame those two Koreans.
