Not the sharpest tool in the shed - Thai man filmed cross-legged on phone on his motorbike

BANGKOK: -- A Thai man with an apparent death wish was filmed on his motorbike in the traffic - he was sitting cross-legged, hands off the handle bars playing on his phone.

A video of the plonker was posted on the Facebook page of Surasak Somjaipongtham who said the man was going fast on a big road in traffic.

Many netizens who commented on the inappropriate behavior quoted the Thai proverb: Mai hen long sop, mai lang naam taa.

This might be translated as "the coffin did not shed a tear" and is used to refer to daft actions and their inevitable dire consequences.

But we at Thaivisa just prefer to refer to him as hardly the sharpest tool in the shed.

Quite a talent. Taking legless to a new level.

Good riding skills. Wonder which cruise control system he uses. Sticky throttle?

He's the stuff that those horrendous traffic accidents are made of.....

Tour bus driver on his way home from work?

Straight into a motorway support pillar would brighten my Christmas a bit more!

Good he is wearing a helmet.

It's the Thai way...

Wearing a helmet to protect his brainless head.

Idiot(TM) Cruise Control, manufactured by Braindead Inc.?

A better rendition of Mai hen long sop, mai lang naam taa. might be if you don't see the coffin then you  don't shed any tears - so true with many young people

I saw one last week laid back with his hands crossed behind his neck ( no helmet obviously) going flat out along soi bearing not far from the BTS station.  The telling thing most of the Thai pedestrians were pointing and laughing. Says it all really.

Along with brainless!

Apparently self driving motors have arrived.

Just plain supid

This is obviously a doctored video. What does this guy have, cruise control on his bike?

This is a clear display of what Thai education has done to the younger generation.

Those long journeys can get so boring.:saai:

If he'd had an accident involving only him I can imagine there's be some amazing explanation.

I don't know about modern bikes but my old Triumph had a throttle adjusting screw to stop the engine slowing down when giving hand signals. Way before flashing indicators came on the scene.

What do you expect them to do? Write a strongly worded post on TVF?

The circus is in town, and this short term global citizen is the main event.

Apple, Google, please note that, to play with our smart mobiles safely,  we also need self driving smart bikes too!

Another time, he probably will play with the "joystick" while riding!!!

But otherwise those Pokemons would escape

I had one on my Big bike back home. Simple little lever to lock the throttle on the handle bar. Was great on real cold mornings to be able to warm your hand near the cylinder heads. Only used it on the highway.

Crazy. I used to see this guy out and about about two or three years ago in Samui. Seems like a few have a death wish.

Not the sharpest too, but definitely a tool.
