Thailand and New Zealand reach an educational cooperation agreement

Prof. Dr. Wichit Srisa-arn (วิจิตร ศรีสอ้าน), the Education Minister, revealed that he recently confered with Dr. Brook Barrington, the New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand, about educational cooperation agreement between Thailand and New Zealand in which New Zealand agreed on the principle Thailand had proposed which is the exchange of students and teachers between schools in Thailand and New Zealand.

Currently, some schools have already engaged in such schemes. However, Dr.Wichit would like to expand this kind of educational cooperation since New Zealand is renownded for its proper educatrional system. Morever, the cooperation will bring more training courses for English teachers, which Thailand is sorely lacking.

The Minister of Education added Thailand and New Zealand will cooperate in graduate study level since New Zealand has several universities specialized in science and technology which is of Thai needs and both countries will sign a formal cooperation agreement in early 2007.
