Nakhon Sri Immigration update

Featured Replies

Howdy All,, visit to Nakhon Sri immigration yesterday primarily to obtain cert.of residency for registering new motorcycle.

Wow was i in for a shock......

So i am in my second year of Non OA visa(retirement)issued in Australia, also wanted to obtain a re-entry permit for travel early next year.

When i approached the IO and presented all my papers,he looked through my passport and stated to me"why have you not

reported your residence when you returned to the country on 14th.November"(2016).

FYI: i left back to my country for 5 months and just returned,,when i left i was well within my next 90report period.Returned to

the same town, but changed place of residence.(within NakhonSri province)

Correct me if i am wrong,,as i understand it, if you leave the country the 90day report just cancels out and when you

return your address is put on your immigration arrival card at the airport,,then you do your report 90days after that.

NOT according to the IO you have to report your residence within 2days of arrival personally at the immigration office.

I must admit i was shocked and there were many other farang that day being told the same thing.

IO informed me this was the "law" but in my nearly 10year stay here i have never had to do this before.

Always do 90day report within that time after arrival back into the country.

So there you are....be warned.....none of my requirements for cert.etc were processed until this was sorted out.

The issue is not so much the requirement to do this BUT IT IS NOT communicated anywhere(imm.website,or others)

Hope this may help other members.

Thanks for the reply UJ,,with respect is the TM30 the responsibility of the property owner or visa holder??

I get the requirement for TM28 and i should have known that.

The IO did not mention specifically TM30 or TM28 just said i needed to report personally to immigration

within 2 days of re-entry to the country.With my upcoming re-entry permit(prob dep.Feb come back March17)

he insisted that i report to imm upon my return next time.

I guess we just chalk it up to mis- communication on both sides.

Also, is it a requirement to photocopy every single page of your passport for any official documents??

IO insisted on a copy of every page(20 in all) for CofR.

Only wish you were there to witness the goings on.Arrive 9.30am dep 4pm.

thanks

It should be the owners responsibility to do the TM30 but some offices put it on the possessor which would be you. Most offices don't want a new one every time you enter the country.

Most offices don't want a TM28 unless you move.

There should never be a need for every page of the passport. I do have to do a copy of every page that has any stamps or visas to do with Thailand for my extensions. That was a bunch of pages until I got a new passport.
