TCEB: MICE tourists generates revenue of over 140 bn bt in 2016

BANGKOK, 22 December 2016 (NNT) – Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) reported that Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism generated over 140 billion baht in revenue during 2016.

TCEB Committee Chairman Weerasak Kowsurat disclosed that MICE tourists generated a revenue of over 140 billion baht in 2016, with 60 billion baht from MICE tourists in Thailand and 80 billion baht from MICE tourists abroad.

TCEB expects MICE tourism revenue in 2017 to be even higher targeting 155 billion baht, with roughly 101 billion baht and 54 billion baht expected from foreign and Thai MICE tourists respectively.

TCEB aims to attract further investments in MICE at both the national and regional levels, which will continue to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness globally in 2017.

What was it in prior years?  How does this compare to neighboring countries?  This number means nothing.
