BANGKOK, 23 December 2016 (NNT) – The Command Center for Monitoring Situation (CCMS) will be organizing charity activities including walk, run and cycling during this weekend, and will be closing some routes during the morning.

Deputy Transport Minister Aomsin Cheewaphreuk chaired CCMS' meeting attended by officials from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Social Development and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), to prepare for the walk, run charity and cycling activities to be held on 25 December 2016, and discuss the road closure and traffic facilitation required for the activities.

The Association of Thammasat University under the Royal Patronage will be organizing the 6th Thailand International Half Marathon, with the route starting from the plaza beneath Rama 8 Bridge. The outbound traffic on Borommarajachonnani road will be temporarily closed from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) Club will be organizing a cycling event in remembrance of His Late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, which begins at 6:00 a.m. from the PEA's headquarters along - Ngam Wong Wan Road – Phong Phet Intersection – Khlong Prapa – Tao Poon Intersection-Saphan Soong - Rama 5 Road – Benchamabophit Temple Intersection - and eventually back to Ratchadamnoen Road towards Thammasat University.

The winner of the half marathon will win in about 1 hour 15 mins. Those not so sprightly will complete in 3-4 hours. I expect the elevated expressway, Borommarajachonnani  (which is always used for these events) will be open again at 9am. Traffic will still flow down below.

Don't worry, Santa doesn't need road to get to your house.

It is for a good cause. And only for a few hours.
