Mae Hong Son

Will be in Chiang Mai for five days in December. Is it worth a day trip to Mae Hong Son - flight in the morning, back in the afternoon?

Whats the cost, and are flights fully booked at this time of the year?

Mae Hong Son is a beautiful place to visit but a few hours will not allow you to appreciate it. Checking the Thai Airways schedules the first flight in the morning is at 10:55 and arrive at 11:30 then the latest departure is 5:05 PM. Meaning only about 3-4 hours to arrange transportation and see anything. Don't know if there is another carrier with earlier flights.

Thanks - thats what I was thinking myself. Perhaps one night there would be better.
