Culture Ministry to construct outdoor Tsunami Museum

PHANG NGA, 26 December 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Culture has allocated a budget of over 64 million baht to build an outdoor Tsunami Museum, also serving as a learning center that will generate revenue to the local communities.

Culture Minister Weera Rotphotchanarat disclosed that on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the tsunami disaster on 26 December 2004, the Ministry of Culture has cooperated with Phang Nga province to construct an outdoor Tsunami Museum in Nam Khem village, Bang Muang subduatrict, Takua Pa district. The museum will also serve as a learning center for the historic disaster, which Thailand was one of the affected countries.

The outdoor Tsunami Museum's construction will be divided into two phases, including the acquisition of two fishing boats and the construction phase.

The two boats are historical relics of the tsunami disaster, having been washed ashore in Takua Pa district. Crafted from local wisdom, the boats are not merely evidence of the tsunami's power but it is also an embodiment of local culture.

The museum's construction will start from January 2017 and is expected to take two years to complete, operating under an initial budget of over 64 million baht. The museum is expected to generate a revenue of up to 3.7 billion baht, says the minister.

So making money from the deaths in the tsunami? Didn't they make enough out of the donations after the event? Despicable...  TIT

And there was me thinking that the incessant need to scam the tourists of their money could not have gotten any worse that after the bombing of the shrine in Bangkok.

This even trawls new depths.
