" a 38 metre long catamaran made in China " I'm going to wait some months before using this boat.

Months or years?    smile.gif

I find it strange that no pictures has been published of this amazing new ferry that will provide you with a safe journey in 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Just one picture so we can get an idea would be nice. Or maybe they need to buy one first ?

It is being advertised on radio as departing Central Pier, Hua Hin at 0830 and returning at 1530 from Pattaya.

typo WU YI HIN -> WU YI HU

Open youtube.com and enter "WU YI HU" in the search field.

Among some other stuff you will find a couple of videos about this catamaran in action.

Who will be the "ship spotter" who publishes the first picture of it around Pattaya?

I heard its maiden voyage it was not able to dock at Hua Hin due to choppy waters. :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

One assumes that it was end-of-life in original guise and Thailand got it for a song (buy 3 subs, get a cat for free).

Just watching some of the videos of it bobbing around like a cork made me feel seasick and it's not as if it was rough, just a mild chop. Pity the poor soul in the centre seat of seven (yes 7) abreast when the well trained staff haven't replaced the barf-bag from the previous trip. Actually pity the three he has to climb across.

Gonna get busy out there apparently, or surely not some confused overlapping reporting.....

So the ferry starts at 12-1 and the free rides are from 1-15 January.

Just a 450 "lucky" people to join.

Cant be all bad, 26 years old and still floating......

it's 12:30 PM so the first test run should have arrived in Pattaya from Hua Hin by now:w00t:

any reports?

Just saw on Thai news website, it couldn't cross the bay due to rough seas and only circled Koh Larn and came back to dock in Pattaya

Some people that booked hotels on the other side was furious

SMS from BP said it was cancelled because of choppy seas

This does not look so good canceling on the first day..lol....

So they can only take the trip on calm seas?

How many sickbags deployed? Has anybody seen green Chinese tourists staggering around in the Bali Hai area?

Also read that yesterday (31st December) when they took some VIPs and press out they managed to make it all the way to Huahin, but couldn't dock due to rough sea too, they were going to go to another port nearby but the engine developed some trouble so they repaired it while it sat in the water and hightail back to Pattaya

it would be interesting to learn where this 25 year old vessel was deployed during its lifetime. Maybe built for river cruises and not traveling the sea. Not many such places in mainland China where they need a ferry that cruises the open seas, the only idea I have would be from Dalian to the East coast. Or it was being used on the Macau / Shenzhen  to Hong Kong route.
