DSI and police encircle Dhammakaya temple

BANGKOK: -- Almost a thousand of police and officials from the Department of Special Investigation encircled the Dhammakaya temple before dawn today in a new effort to arrest it's former abbot Phra Dhammachayo who is believed to be still in the temple.

Among the five companies of police are anti-riot police and provincial police from Pathumthani, Ayutthaya, Nonthaburi, Saraburi and Samut Prakarn.

Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) police also joined the operation which is aimed at blocking all exits and entrances to the temple in order to pressure the stubborn former abbot to surrender.

Earlier yesterday the acting abbot of the temple turned himself in to police to face charges for aiding and providing hideout for Phra Dhammachayo.

He was later granted temporary release on bail by the Criminal Court.

By late this morning a hundred of followers of the former abbot came out to observe the police action.

Most of them wore dust masks to conceal their faces. Many also used motorcycles to block a road around the temple in the bid to prevent the police and the DSI officials to encircle the temple at all gates.

1000 police officers !Wonder how many will still be there if it starts raining ?

This is the only encirclement they know..

Nothing's going to happen;  it never has.

Motorcles blocking roads should be cleared with a buldozer and front end loader and carted off to an impound.

The wagons have formed a circle...General Prayuths last stand!....but darn it all... the pesky motorcycles have blocked the roads....!

That'll be entertaining. Might escape with a heli James Bond style. He probably has a Helipad somewhere in there.

By The Nation

Four companies of crowd-control police commandos and officers from the Department of Special Investigation laid siege to the controversial Dhammakaya Temple in Pathum Thani Tuesday morning in what appeared to be preparations for a raid.

The officers gathered at the Klong Luang district office 5:30 am and moved to the temple.

Police and DSI beef up presence ahead of possible "assault" on Wat Dhammakaya

BANGKOK: -- The police and DSI have beefed up their presence at Wat Dhammakaya early this morning as an assault on the temple and its rogue monk holed up inside looks increasingly likely.

Police from four sections and a large amount of auxiliary vehicles were parked surrounding the temple in Pathum Thani.

All of its gates were being monitored closely both inside and out.

DSI used drones to survey the inside of the temple - in response the temple used lasers to attempt to disrupt this surveillance. The temple had all the lights out so that the authorities could not see movements inside clearly.

Many members of the public were entering at Gate 6 without hindrance. At gate four there was a gathering of worshippers praying and temple officials were also waiting there.

The on again off again raid of the temple to apprehend its chief monk Phra Dhammachayo on embezzlement charges has lasted for months.

Play ring around the roses  :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

This has descended into a farce that makes a mockery of whatever crumbs of justice remain in this country - when they catch him I guess he will be dispatched to an inactive post in Yala

Police close up on Wat Dhammakaya

By Teeranai Charuvastra, Staff Reporter -

A policeman on Tuesday morning films supporters of Wat Dhammakaya inside tents and barricades at a gate of their temple complex.

PATHUM THANI — Police began Tuesday morning clearing barricades blocking the entrance to the Wat Dhammakaya complex where they seek to arrest its abbot, who’s accused of multi-million baht embezzlement.

Security forces have maintained a presence outside the large temple campus since June, when the 72-year-old Dhammachayo was charged with receiving donations that authorities said were money embezzled from a credit union. However, the official in charge of the investigation declined to say whether today’s operation would culminate in raiding the temple and finding the abbot.

way past time the police and army simply raided the place and arrested all those blocking them as they are breaking the law. This is beyond a farce, these people are not above the law and are acting like criminals, the bikes etc that they have used to block the police should simply be destroyed and the owners fined heavily., By letting them do as they please the police are making themselves a laughing stock, not that they arent already, only i n Thailand can criminals do this sport of crap and get away with it because the police are just so pathetic.

what a waste, need to practice, need to exercise the troops..send in the XXX they will take care of him and his XXX wonders.

Another example whereby we can learn the face concept only applies to Thais and Thailand.

If that were not the case surely they would not consistently make such international fools of themselves.

Nothing matters outside Thailand except their fake holiday 'reputation.'

Did they try calling his mobile first?

do we have any TV members near by with real time updates?

"still nothing happening"

Yipeee!! Now we can drink and drive without being afraid we be stopped by the police!!!
