Thousands of Dhammakaya disciples still shield temple from search by authorities.

BANGKOK: -- PRIME MINISTER’S Office Minister Ormsin Cheewapruek will speak with the National Office of Buddhism (NOB) after New Year’s Day about what to do regarding Dhammakaya Temple’s fugitive former abbot Phra Dhammachayo.

Omsin, who oversees the Office, affirmed yesterday that the Phra Dhammachayo case as well as those against the temple – would proceed according to the law. He added that he had already spoken about the matter with NOB officials on Tuesday, but since the details were not discussed, he would need to have another talk after New Year’s.

Meanwhile, national police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda said police were waiting for the right moment to apply for a search warrant and to arrest Phra Dhammachayo, so he could not set a definite timeframe as police have been instructed to avoid clashes.

There is never a right moment.

Stop being a bunch of wimps, get in and do your job.

The big problem with this is far to many big wigs with their fingers in the pie.

Can't they be treated as were the red shirts....all they have to do is shoot!

It's under consideration according to the law

Make the nation's government secular ... treat all people equally without regard to religion, ideology, philosophy, etc. under the law and the constitution.

A rule for one and not another, as is the case always in Thailand, one wonders if the same poor response would happen if hackers anonymous hacked the single gateway or  students protested out the front of Prayut's Sunday BBQ................................:coffee1:

Can't see how speaking to the KNOB's can help

NOB officials pretty much sums it up

Same old same old one law for the rich one law for the poor. Keeping Thailand in the dark ages.

Grow a pair

The purge has gone to the Wat. Why wait? These monks are too close to Thaksin, take them out just like you do politicians, university students, uppity journalists, family members of slain protesters, ... :coffee1:

Delay, prevarification.....delay, prevarification.... ad finitum....

The world must be laughing its socks off!

This will not end in an arrest and trial but in a compromise deal behind the scenes, followed by some meaningless statement that it has been settled without harm to the country and everyone is happy.  The P.M. prepared the way for this with his statement a couple of days ago.

Starting with January 1st 2017 draw up a bunch of numbers from 1 to 30 and put them in a hat and draw one. To avoid conflict use paratroopers. Check with the air farce to see if any are in stock.

The real global laugh will be when this "monk" is seen in LA sipping Dom on New Years Eve with the last one that left the country. I would  think he left a long time ago. When was the last time someone actually had eyes on him?

Gone from embarrassing  to farcical to I don't know what next. Whole thing is a complete joke and His Monkness is laughing the most.

Why not just issue another ultimatum?

They are part of the corrupt criminal elite that rips off taxpayers' money and plunders wealth invested by ordinary people and nobody really gives a flying <deleted>.

They're all in on it, all implicated. Why on earth would the "government', the police , the military or anyone else heavily invested in The System really want to break someone else's rice bowl?

Happy New Year Phra Dhammachayo....wherever you are!

no, 2060 when they all pass away...

Or maybe never in our life time.

I have to go against the conventional wisdom of TV posters here.

(IMHO) The police are right to tread very carefully in this situation. Nothing can be lost by taking time to look at all the possible scenarios and outcomes (well, nothing except face).

I can see an enormous potential for some sort of tragic massacre when the police/troops eventually go in. Loyal followers of the monk will resist. Resistance may be passive BUT could include use of weapons, bombs, or incendiaries.

The situation could deteriorate extremely quickly. Thai authorities are not famed for coolness under pressure and the reaction could be severe. Think Waco.

Softly, softly, catchee monkey.

Can´t really be that hard guys. Just go in and take the man out. Unfortunately it takes a man to do that, and that man just can´t stand up and shout.

BIB grow a pair..

The 20 year roadmap to arrest him in action.
