UTHAI THANI, 2 January 2017 (NNT) - Those who have traveled back to Uthai Thani Province during the New Year holiday are now lining up in front of bus terminals to purchase tickets back to Bangkok for fear that they won't be able to secure a seat.

The province's bus terminal did not provide advanced booking, while heavy traffic is expected to begin as soon as Tuesday as people are getting a head start on their commutes before heavy traffic sets on in the following days.

Suthin Klom-on of Uthai Thani's Transport Company affirmed that the terminal has prepared sufficient buses for those planning to travel back to Bangkok. He assured that a repeat of the past year's Songkran Festival where many locals were stranded due to insufficient buses will not happen this time around.

As for safety measures, officials will conduct alcohol testing of drivers and staff and will conduct maintenance and checkups of all vehicles. In addition, the buses will provide information to passengers on safety measures and how to use related equipment. Passengers are also encouraged to report bad service or driving behavior at the hotline 1584.
