Ferry project from 36 state investment programs being trialled

BANGKOK, 3 January 2017 (NNT) – The government has resolved to push 36 transport investment projects in 2017 as part of a push to make it a year of investment.

The 36 programs cover land, air and water transport and have a combined value of over 900 billion baht. It is hoped that the projects will match economic growth in the nation.

Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd detailed the projects, which include the dual track rail line, suburban rail line, special highways, new ship docks and more airports.

One of the projects nearing completion is the Pattaya-Hua Hin Ferry Connection. The Gulf of Thailand ferry is to reduce travel time between the two popular destinations of Pattaya and Hua Hin from 4-5 hours to only 1 hour 40 minutes. It is to enhance two areas that already generate over 4 billion baht in revenue annually and is currently in a trial run that will extend until January 15.

Travelers who want to trial the ferry can sign up at www.md.go.th. From January 16 onward, the ferry will cost 1,200 to 1,250 baht per trip. The service is slated to be available for both people and vehicles in the future.
