another, what type of visa is best for me

Featured Replies

what type of visa is best for me if i want to visit thailand approx 4-5 times per year on an average of 2 weeks at a time.

i am a 49 year old from ireland with an irish & british passport,         i am married to a thai national.

thankyou in advance

Just fly here, you got about 6 times a year that you can do. Each time you are per automatic given 4 weeks VISA excempt entry..... and on top of that if you like to stay longer, you can extend those 4 weeks by another 4 weeks...

  • A Multiple Entry Non Immigrant 'O' Visa based on visiting your Thai wife.
  • You can enter as many times as you want for 1 year, and stay up to 90 days per entry.

thanks guys,

i was reading that people are getting refused entry for " coming too much " so was unaware of the rules regarding this.

in last 1 year i have been approx 5 times,       so referring to the 6 times per year rule ,  will that be taken from the start of each new year i.e  january 2017.

its kind of confusing for me,  maybe there is a pinned thread on this? ill have a look

  1. It's the correct visa for someone visiting their wife.
  2. The Tourist Visa Exempt scheme (VE) is meant for tourism.
  3. Having a visa avoids the possibility of questioning by immigration due to the frequent use of VE, or discretional denied entry.
  4. Avoids the need to pre-book return/onward flights to satisfy the airline if required.
  5. Getting a ME Non 'O' is very little hassle and can be done by post.

It is not 6 times per year it is a undefined time period which only Immigration know

It's not often I agree with poster elviajero but in this instance his advice is spot on

If you have already been here 5 times on a VE in the last year there is a strong chance you will be questioned at the Airport next time, 2 of my friends have a similar sort of visit history and they have both been questioned with one having a "must have a visa to gain entry next time" written by the I/O at the airport in his PP

Play it safe and get a Non O

A Multi Entry Non O Visa is the way to go.

Gives you peace of mind as well.
