New speedboat docking platforms open at Bali Hai

PATTAYA:-- Additional speedboat platforms have opened at Bali Hai Pier, offering faster loading and unloading of Koh Larn ferries.

Speedboat operators were required to register to use the new platforms in a test run Dec. 28.

The boat companies were urged to use the platforms after a visit by the governor of Chonburi on Oct. 18 during which he pointed out that it was dangerous for boats to come into shallow waters and disembark customers.

Orders were given to the Marine Department to organize the boats and have them use four existing floating buoys, but operators quickly complained there was insufficient capacity to handle the 343 boats plying the route between the mainland and the resort island.

Good. I have missed the news of various crashes and sinkings from these folks.

I wonder how long it will take for a speedboat to overshoot the mark.

These look like the same crappy floating jetties that washed away outside the coastguard station at Pratumnak not so long ago. Don't they ever learn?

All well and fine, but how does one get a speedboat into the water after the closing of the Bali Hai ramp ?

I bet they learn precisely the cost to replace these every so often, hence the miles of it stretched out on the beach

A bit offtopic perhaps but why had been decided to install that awful looking green parking garage building exact in front of the bali hai pier?since when should such an ugly car parking garage become an  Eye catcher?

Aren't they using the Jomtien Beach Rd boat launch?

Boat launching ramp has been relocated to an area in Jomtien now and no longer in bali hai.

IMO that ugly green parking structure was essentially built for  Thai visitors coming from from Bangkok on weekends.

They could have built it underground but.....they didn't!
