webfact Posted January 11, 2017 Share Posted January 11, 2017 Journalists group warns media bill a setback By THE NATION BANGKOK: -- The Senior Journalists Club yesterday issued a statement expressing concerns over the new media regulation bill and the ongoing media reform by the government and its appointed officials, saying it would set back the press freedom they had fought for during an era of dictatorship decades ago. The club also vowed to fight side by side with other media organisations, including the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) and Thai Broadcast Journalists Association (TBJA), which strongly oppose the government’s move. On Monday, media groups met with the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) media reform committee to express their concerns over its ongoing media reform efforts via an enactment of the new media regulation bill. Just shut down all TV channels and stop the newspaper prints for a week, there would be riots in the streets when the Thai ladies can not watch their weekly Soup operas.
