hi everybody. I am one of those guys who don't make 2k dollars of interest in a month, nor do I get a pension in the realm of 2k dollars a month. what I do have is about 125k dollars in a bank account which gets me about 600 dollars in interest each month which is what I live on here in thailand. I have been living here for about 10 years now on this amount of money with no problems. naturally, I want to continue staying here without having to go out each 6 months for 90 days.

in about 7 years, I will start receiving my social security which would increase my monthly income from 600 dollars to about 1500 dollars.

my question to you experts out there is - if I put 2k dollars of my SAVINGS each month into my thai bank account, would it suffice to satisfy the 65k baht monthly requirement that is being asked for by the thai authorities?

naturally, since I don't spend more than 600 dollars a month, most of the 2k dollars would just sit in my bank account after each month.

I don't smoke, drink, gamble, take drugs, nor take girls out much. it's just my old pal, rosie, and my computer that keep me happy.

if the above arrangement doesn't work, than, I guess I'll just have to move to the philippines where it will. no problem here.

please. no a##hole remarks. I'm asking a serious question, and would like a serious response. thank you. nick.

You need 800k in a Thai bank account or 65k per month income (confirmed by your Embassy and paperwork to present to immigration) or a combination.

What you might consider is putting 800k into a fixed deposit account in a Thai bank to meet the retirement conditions (believe most officers will accept this method but it might require asking several). This would earn about 4.5 or 5% so you would not be losing too much.

It is not fee to live in the PI either from my understanding. And believe you have to leave once every year.

Now for not having to leave each 6 months for 90 days all you need to do it obtain a tourist visa every now and then from our understanding at this point. Visa entry is not supposed to be counted against the 90 days of visa exempt entry.
