You don't say where you are, but all over the country are little huts / shophouses selling all manner of car thingies, fuses, lamps, brake pads, oil etc etc.

This is our local place, yes, he's open on a Sunday, he's actually been open every time I've driven past even late at night.

I'll bet there's one near you.

Take out the failed lamp and show it to the man. Buy two, my headlamp bulbs both failed within two weeks (after 9 years).

Just make sure that the one you get isn't a copy. I obtained one from Big C for the G/L motorbike turned out to be a copy. When you turned the switch on dip it went on main beam, you've guessed it main beam for Dip.

Wasn't a major problem as it went up the creek a couple of weeks later anyway. Another 40bt down the river.

Don't know about Ford but my local Toyota garage doesn't sell bulbs or W/S wipers blades either. Have to go to a local shop or Tesco/Big C They all open on a Sunday.

Pretty much anything on the racks at Tesco and Big C is cheap Chinese or Korean rubbish. Best bet as Crossy said is the roadside auto parts shop and bring the dud bulb with you for faster service as there's not many like Autozone (US) or Halfords (UK) where they will do the work of removing and replacing it for you.

I have always found that the small/large shops offer you copy or the good stuff. There is a difference price wise but you do have as said a choice. I know first hand that Big C sell the crap stuff. Well they did for my wife bike light.

Dunno mate, after buggering about with local <deleted>, I changed the OEM rubbish in my first Ranger and Mrs NL's CR-V with decent Osram, Philips or Sylvania bulbs I brought back from the UK or US.

But our latest Panzerkampfwagen has LED's all round.

That's, pretty much, even more rubbish, they both stock many reputable international brands as well as Chinese or S. Korean brands (that are nowhere near all rubbish).

The Korean made "Eagle eye, extra hyper plasma blue 5000k long life max bright long distance. New! no need relay'' incandescent H4 headlight bulbs in Tesco for about 400 baht are actually dim, poorly manufactured, low-light crap with dead-spots and flaring.

The Korean made "Nokya hyper yellow incandescent 2500k" incandescent H11 fog lights bought in the US for about 18 bucks are bloody awesome.

Bosch, Sylvania and other 'international' branded accessories sold in Tesco and Big C are regionally produced, poor quality copies of the stuff they sell in Europe and the US.

It's your money though so no worries.

One dodgy (in your opinion) bulb, then.   I stand by what I said.

Have you tested Bosch, Sylvania and the other international brands enough to determine that they are all poor quality?  They certainly are not "copies" of those brands products.

The Eagleye bulbs are totally dodgy. Purplish-yellow light may be sexy as all buggery but you can't see bugger all on the road at night. I gave the set to my mate for his old truck and he stopped buying me beer!

Bosch, Sylvania et al are manufactured 'under license' and it IS NOT the same product quality that you get in US/UK markets. They are not fake, but they aren't the best either. Even the Halfords-branded (UK) bulbs made by Osram beat the local Osram offerings. The Osram branded globes that Ford fit as standard here are not available in other markets. Plenty Ford owners in Australia reporting that the globes in their Thai-assembled truck are all a bit underwhelming and replacing them with quality Osram and Philips stuff that's imported from Germany.

This goes beyond light bulbs though. Bosch wiper blades in Big C, etc.,  are of regional manufacture and don't last as long as Bosch stuff assembled in the UK/US and probably Australia as well. The best-rated Michelin branded wiper blades are not available on the Thai market at all but the ones I brought from the UK lasted almost 3 years.

The car accessory business is a money spinner but Big C and Tesco aren't spending over the odds to sell 'premium' stuff in their auto aisles. Once again, your money and your choice.

Sorry if this seems to be going above your pay grade but like all things in Thailand, your experience will most assuredly differ (even when it doesn't and you buy some shonky, brand-name bulbs at Tesco) but once again, it is your money and it is your choice.

In other countries where vehicle lighting is designed to conform with agreed industry standards and legal requirements, one can rest assured that what you buy has a higher degree of compliance and quality. Meanwhile in Thailand... go ahead, knock yourself out.

I put a couple of Eagle headlight bulbs in my ride when one OEM bulb failed. The eagle was far better in my opinion, plus they shone blue to match the paintwork..

Having had both a Vigo and Spivo and found the lights on those at best pore/rubbish. Changed the Vigo ones for more powerful bulbs still rubbish.

Couldn't do it on the Vigo as they had double filament bulbs but as soon as I could on the Spivo twin lights, changed those to an LG Xenon set up 30w dip and spots, 50w main beam. Not cheap but if you want to see at night their the things to go for.

Are they any good? Fantastic. Not cheap but well worth it if you want to arrive at your destination.

Added bonus is that other cars 'the 80kph outside lane huggers' get out of your way miles? before you get to them they don't like the bright lights even on dip up their Butt.

I knew you'd see sense eventually but there really was no need to apologise.

Q. How many TVF members does it take to change a light bulb?

A. We don't know yet, the topic has only just started.

Well, six days ago. It was a funny joke anyway.

Ohhhh noooooo...... that would bugger up the whole discourse and havoc would surely ensue.

You stick to tire pressures, Vigo's and V8's

I do lightbulbs, Rangers and the neophytes.

You have an opinion which is contrary to mine which is entirely OK by me so you don't have to get worried that I may have not read or misunderstood your posts or may have comprehension issues.

Now, you carry on buying your light bulbs where you buy your milk and veggies. It is your money after all. OK?

Oh yes, You can have the last word (like that wasn't going to happen).

I don't worry about your comprehension issues but I do not like false statements that suggest something contrary to what I actually said.  The last word doesn't come into it unless you are trying to tell me when to stop posting on a subject.
