If you don't have any other visas from HCMC they may not worry about it.

Where are your tourist visas from?

In HCMC they will want to see evidence you have the funds to support yourself in Thailand.

In my case i showed them a Thai bank account passbook which they copied

They may ask to see cash, 20000 Baht.

And they will insist on a ticket out of Thailand after your SETV  60 day entry is done.

They will want to see that ticket.

I bought a ticket from Bangkok to Kuala Lampur on Malaysian airlines.

They are strict about this, but fair.

I got a SETV from them in November 2016.

When I got my SETV they insisted I pay the fee in U.S. dollars.

They would not accept Vietnamese Dong or Thai Baht to pay the fee.

If you get there before Feb 28th 2017 there may be no fee for a SETV.

They would not accept any other money then. ( November 2016)

There was a notice to that effect posted outside the consulate as you entered.

And another notice inside the Thai consulate that they wanted the fee paid ONLY in U.S. dollars.

They may have chaged that rule since November 2016, but I do not know.

That is all the info I can remember.

I recall a report where showing cash at the consulate for proof-of-finances was not accepted - they wanted bank-account proof to copy for their records.  OTOH, you may be asked to show cash (or travelers checks) at the immigration-checkpoint on your return, where bank-book proof is not accepted.
