Minor caught shoplifting at Supercheap store

PHUKET:-- A Phang Nga girl was arrested early this morning in Phuket after she was caught shoplifting from a Supercheap store near the Heroines’ Monument.

Capt Suporn Muangkairong of Thalang Police received the report about 4am.

“Staff told us that she had entered the store with a bag, but they paid no heed to it. However, the door alarms started beeping when she attempted to make off with a bagful of items worth about 1,200 baht,” said Capt Suporn.

Worth reading the full story ... Supercheap policy to charge 100 times the value of any stolen goods and not call the police. Family could not pay the 120,000 baht demanded = police called in.

Yes I noted that as the only part of interest (for any potential shoplifters here).

Otherwise, why is this Expat Forum reproducing non-stories about a kid pilfering in a store?

Sounds like 100 times the stolen cost is a very good deterrent  ... I approve that policy.

Well let's hope you never find yourself in need of clothing, milk and food for your pussy when you're ever in dire straits then. Having said that, I'm surprised not one poster on this particular forum has proposed the death penalty.
