What you don’t know about ‘Khon Kaen Revolution’

Khon Kaen is not only known as a “land of dinosaurs,” but also, as a fast growing province in terms of economy and business.

More recently, the province has been receiving a lot of attention among tourism professionals and travelers, making the current campaign of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to promote Khon Kaen as a travel hub in 2017 very timely. Dubbed as “Khon Kaen Revolution,” the campaign aims to put the province among the leading hotspots of Thailand – an economic powerhouse and business magnet as well as a must-visit travel destination with so much to offer. Think you are dummy about Khon Kaen? Here are some things you should know about the ‘new’ Khon Kaen:

New Business Network

Because Khon Kaen is nestled in a prime location on the northeast of Thailand, the province is ideally attractive as a business hub. With the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the potential rewards of economic integration in a region promising a huge market with big opportunities for trade and business, Khon Kaen should prove an attractive new business network that could drive both the public and private sectors to come together, integrate, and create an evolution in domestic and international trade engagement.

New Knowledge

Khon Kaen is arguably the largest educational center in Isan and institutions such as Khon Kaen University, North-Eastern University, the Rajamangala Institute of Technology, College of Asian Scholars, Civil Aviation Training Center, Sripatum University, Sirindhorn College of Public Health, as well as the other international schools and bilingual schools o er countless opportunities for both education and research development. Khon Kaen, therefore, is a perfect destination to start education and to further hone existing knowledge, skills and abilities that prepare an individual for a promising career and/or business success.

New Experiences

Khon Kaen is a “new Manhattan.” It is gearing up to be the next cultural and nancial capital of Thailand. Visitors will enjoy rst-hand experiences and immersion in both traditional and modern cultures for one. Furthermore, Isan food is probably one of the most popular cuisines ever. For example, sticky rice and somtam (a spicy papaya salad with fermented fish sauce), are top favorites of many both locals and foreigners. Being in Isan itself, Khon Kaen is well positioned to provide visitors a culinary experience that is authentic as they are truly delicious. Tourism-wise, many places in Khon Kaen have become well known and the TAT hopes to attract ve million tourists by 2017. This is not impossible, considering the province’s many popular tourist attractions, such as Bung (Lake) Kaen Nakhon, Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon (The 9-storey stupa), Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, Ubonrat Dam, Khon Kaen Zoo, Sim Isan, Wat Chai Si, and Khon Kaen University.

New Vision

In line with TAT’s implementation guidelines on how Khon Kaen become a new business hub, the people of Khon Kaen are developing a new vision in many areas that should prove profitable for the province in the long term. A MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) information center is scheduled to open next year, which will make Khon Kaen the top choice for conferences, events, and other functions; and with more infrastructure – including transport — designed for further development, this vision should be a guiding light for a better, more prosperous, more attractive to visit and do-business Khon Kaen.

Why Go

There are plenty of attractions to lure all kinds of visitors. Accessibility is convenient, with travel by planes, trains, and buses easily available and relatively inexpensive. Khon Kaen offers an opportunity to combine a business trip, a holiday sojourn, and a grand shopping spree. Indeed, Khon Kaen is the next big thing – whether for business or for pleasure!

Sounds like a great place to invest 10-20 years from now perhaps.

What I know reading this is the education centre does not seem to include English or proof reading eg;

"Khon Kaen is a “new Manhattan.” It is gearing up to be the next cultural and nancial capital of Thailand. "

" Visitors will enjoy rst-hand experiences and immersion in both traditional and modern cultures for one"

" TAT hopes to attract ve million tourists"

And more

Revolution in Isaan? Call P, he'll sort it out again.

Just my luck, I love my quiet little village 20 miles north of KK but KK is moving this way fast. Maybe time to buy roadside property.

Revolution in khon kaen? Viva zappataporn!

They still need at least 2 good international schools combined with athletic options for kids 3-18 yrs of age to learn and compete.. comparable to the ones I've seen in Phuket and Bangkok...that would round off the educational aspect of it

Khon Kaen seems a great place to die !

Me thinks this person has never been here.

My ex is from there. So I naturally hate the entire place......
