The first floor of the hospital was flooded and its medical equipment and facilities were damaged, forcing the hospital to shut down for 1 week. Soldiers and related authorities helped to clean up the hospital and restored its services. The hospital was able to resume on January 23, along with its obstetrics and minor surgery clinic. Director of Bang Saphan Hospital Dr Cherdchai Chayawatto revealed that the most severe damage was caused to the major surgery and X-ray rooms, with the total damage estimated at no less than 20 million baht. For long-term flood prevention measures, the local public health office has built walls around the hospital to prevent future inundation. -- nnt 2017-01-
